The Philips Avent SCF281/03 microwave steam steriliser uses water and microwave energy to create hot steam around clean, disassembled feeding equipment. It can hold up to four Philips Avent bottles with accessories and completes a cycle in two to six minutes depending on microwave output.
Philips states approximately two minutes at 1200–1850W, four minutes at 850–1100W and six minutes at 500–800W. Steam must circulate freely, so items should be fully washed, disassembled and arranged according to the loading diagram rather than packed tightly.
When the cycle is complete and the lid remains unopened, contents can remain sterile for up to 24 hours. The side clips keep the lid secured, but the unit, water and steam will be very hot after operation. Cooling and safe opening are essential.

Recommended for sterilising clean, microwave-safe baby bottles, teats and suitable non-electric pump accessories at home or while travelling. It is not suitable for metal, liquid-filled teethers, electrical pump parts or items not approved for microwave steam.
Wash and fully disassemble every item first. Add exactly the water quantity stated in the manual, use the cycle for the microwave wattage and never activate a grill or oven mode. Do not place the steriliser on a metal rack.
Allow it to cool before handling, open the lid away from the face and body, and drain hot water carefully. Wash the base, basket and lid after use, dry them and remove scale regularly. Adult handling is required.
SCF281/03 provides high-capacity steam treatment without occupying space with another powered appliance. Its advantage is speed and portability; its limitation is dependence on a compatible microwave and careful management of hot steam.
