The Philips Avent Niplette is a simple, non-surgical solution for mothers with flat or inverted nipples who want to breastfeed. Inverted or non-protractile nipples affect up to 10% of women, and while the condition can make breastfeeding difficult, the Niplette offers a comfortable way to help correct it without surgery.
The device consists of a transparent nipple mould with a sealing flange, attached to a valve and syringe port. Using a small syringe, air is gently withdrawn so the nipple is drawn into the mould — the wearer controls the suction and can pull as firmly as feels comfortable. Once fitted, the Niplette can be worn discreetly inside a bra during normal daily activities. It's best used before pregnancy or during the first six months, worn in 8-hour periods; used just before feeds after birth, it helps the nipple protrude enough for baby to latch on more easily. A permanent correction is typically achieved after one to three months of continuous use.
Each pack includes 2 Niplettes and 2 disposable breast pads. Consult a healthcare professional if you have concerns about your individual situation. Available at Red Rhino, alongside the rest of the Baby collection.
